THE SALVATION ARMY CITY TEMPLE REFURBISHMENT
THE SALVATION ARMY CITY TEMPLE REFURBISHMENT
CLIENT:
Salvation Army
LOCATION:
Bourke Street, Melbourne CBD, VIC
DURATION:
60 Weeks
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The redevelopment of the City Temple and administration offices in Bourke Street included the staged demolition works and the extension/refurbishment of an existing heritage listed building. The project included the addition of two floors and was staged to allow Salvation Army staff to continue providing community support services from the site throughout the construction process. Given the site restraints of Bourke Street and adjoining buildings, APM developed a construction methodology using prefabricated clad wall panels for the two-level rooftop extension. This minimised the time period for which the existing areas were exposed after removal of the existing roof for extension.
