CHISHOLM AUTOMOTIVE AND LEARNING CENTRE
CHISHOLM AUTOMOTIVE AND LEARNING CENTRE
CLIENT:
Chisholm Institute
LOCATION:
Dandenong, VIC
DURATION:
60 Weeks
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project involved the construction of a streamlined Automotive and Learning Centre, with the design being symbolic of the energy efficient vehicles that will be required in the future. The structure has been described by the architect as a ‘performance shell’ as it responds aerodynamically to wind conditions and thermally to solar orientation and penetration. The shape of the facility represents that of an industrial design object, comprising of a concrete and steel structure with metal deck, alucobond roof and wall cladding. Funded under the federal government’s OFSE scheme, the automotive workshop and modern classrooms allow Chisholm TAFE to continue to give its students the tools for a first class education.
