KYNETON POLICE STATION
KYNETON POLICE STATION
CLIENT:
Victoria Police
LOCATION:
Kyneton, VIC
DURATION:
68 Weeks
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project involved the demolition of a number of existing structures and the construction of a new 2-storey building incorporating the existing 19th century heritage buildings. The existing buildings at the Kyneton Police Station have significant heritage value, with Ned Kelly having been held there in 1869 after his arrest.
The new station is a 24-hour facility housing uniformed officers, a criminal investigation unit, a transport management unit and a sexual offences child abuse unit. Environmentally sustainable design was incorporated into the facility including features such as an underground storm water tank for flushing toilets and irrigation, solar gas-boosted hot water systems and water efficient fittings.
